Happy Day at the Lake

No recipes or quilts today. Today is MLK holiday and I thought I would not have my sweet grandson Case since his daddy works for the state. I always feel a little disappointed when I don't get to see him since I have kept him while his parents work since he was 3 months old. I thought I would have a leisurely day to work on my quilt a little and get a few things done around the house. I also thought I could take it easy and try to heal my back which has been bothering me since last week.  His daddy who loves to fish asked if I could keep Case so he could spend a few hours on the lake. Of course I was happy to have Case. We started our day off with his favorite, biscuits and gravy at Hardee's then headed to the camper for a day away from the house. Just Case and mamaw time. He had brought his big box of mega blocs, my iPad, kindle fire and a bucket full of matchbox cars he dumped into his box of blocs to sneak them out of the house. Oh yes, and don't forget Quasi and the Gup B (from his Octonauts play set) he had brought from home this morning with orders to not let him lose it.
We arrived at the camper which is in Dandridge, TN at a private campground that is across from the lake around 11:00 and right away it was time to build something with the mega blocs. He dumps the box of blocs and I looks at me and says " mamaw play with me" so we sat in the floor and went to work. With his close supervision we built an awesome structure and used every single block as usual. He was very proud of his accomplishment and so we decided to take a pic and share it with mommy and papaw who were not fortunate enough to get to share this day with us.
All this  building gave him an appetite and he was ready to devour his leftover biscuit and gravy and a Sunny Delight. While I was preparing his lunch he decided he wanted to listen to some music.  After fumbling around with the fancy receiver we have in the camper and not being able to figure out how to tune in anything but the weather radio, I gave up and went to the car and found a Vince Gill cd, "High Lonesome Sound" and was entertained as a delighted Case danced and clapped to the beat of the music of Mr Gill. We danced there in the camper without a care in the world.

Then Case was ready to move on to a game of Clumsy Ninja on the iPad. I thought now is my time to do some sewing on my quilt blocks. Wrong. Case wanted to sit with mamaw while he played. Instead of sewing I spent my time rocking this sweet child and watching him play his game until he started getting sleepy. We decided to go lay down and watch an episode of Little Einsteins.  iPad didn't want to to cooperate so instead we started watching a movie (Hugo) that was downloaded on the iPad. About 30-45 minutes into the movie our lovely afternoon came to an end when daddy came in from fishing and took Case home. Days like this I cherish. I don't even mind that I wasn't able to pick up my quilting because he will be grown in the blink of an eye and will be too big for mamaws lap.
