The Consequences of Speaking Your Beliefs

Today the news was buzzing about an interview in GQ where Phil Robertson of the Duck Dynasty tv reality show talks of what the bible says about sin. Specifically sexual sins of both men and women. It wasn't a potshot at gays and or lesbians. It was a statement of sin is sin whether it is between those of the same sex, men and women, prostitution, whatever. It has caused a ruckus with the GLAAD who is always are ready to crucify anyone who doesn't agree with them. It seems our country is controlled by a bunch of troublemakers who want their freedom to do and say whatever they believe in but don't share that freedom with anyone with different views or beliefs. It doesn't matter what Phil Robertson says or believes. It doesn't matter what the GLAAD says or believes. What matters is what God says. We all have sinned and fall short in the glory of God. We are each responsible for our own sins and we can twist Gods word to mean whatever we want it to mean to make us feel warm and fuzzy and happy but that won't make it true or acceptable in Gods eyes or when we stand before God in Judgement. We are only fooling ourselves. I am a sinner saved by the grace of God. I am sorry to say even now I sin everyday. We all do. Sin is so easy. It is all around us. The devil has a way of making us see sin as acceptable. Because something becomes common we accept it as ok.
I agree that speaking your conviction on a lot of controversial a subjects today can ruin you if you are a well known person.  Any celebrity who speaks on religion, sexual preferences , race and a few other taboo subjects are setting themselves up for ridicule, criticism and potential ruin because the news media as well as those who are looking for something to whine about will always chisel out their comments in context to try and ruin them for speaking the convictions of their hearts.  I agree with Mr Robertson. Sexual sin is wrong whether it be between same sex lovers , men and women out of marriage or whatever else one can imagine. Sin is sin period. We are not to judge one another. We are not accountable for anyone's sin but our own. The bible tells us to love one another. It doesn't say we have to love one another's sin. God forgives. We should too. Instead of always looking for fault we should pray for one another and that Gods will be done. Enough said.

Recipe today is for my favorite breakfast. You won't be disappointed.

Country Sausage Gravy and Biscuits

Fry 8-10 sausage patties in 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. I have tried a lot of different brands of sausage but Swaggerties Mild (Kodak, TN) is my favorite I always fry mine to a crispy brown. Jimmy Dean is good too. I prefer mild but you can use any of their varieties.
Leave grease drippings in skillet after you remove the cooked sausage patties.
Add 3-5 tablespoons of self-rising flour to skillet stirring quickly to blend
Salt and pepper to taste also may add 1 -2 tablespoons of brewed black coffee (optional)
Add about 3-4 cups of milk stirring constantly with a whisk. Add a little water if too thick as you bring to a boil. Let gravy mixture boil 2-3 minutes stirring constantly and add more milk or water to desired thickness.

I have a couple really good and easy biscuit recipes but I am not a fan of making biscuits so I use Pillsbury frozen biscuits or SAMs Club Members Mark Buttermilk Biscuits in a bag. So convenient to open up and use what I need and re-close bag and put back in freezer. I do not care for the canned biscuits in the dairy case although they are good to use in other recipe applications.

I hope you enjoy my recipe for biscuits and gravy. My family loves it. My mom could make the best there was. She always made her biscuits from scratch though.

If you try this recipe please give me feedback and let me know how it turned out.
